Why the new range

Not just another fry

This is not a potato with a different name. Cassava is a bolder root, raised on Surinamese soil, and it rewrites what a fry can be: how it bites, how fast it cooks and who gets to enjoy it.

  • Crisp to the last fry.

The bite stays firm under sauce and toppings, long after a potato fry gives up.

  • Ready within minutes

They go straight from the freezer to the air fryer, with nothing to peel and nothing to soak.

  • Gluten Free

Made from cassava, a naturally gluten-free root. A simple, plant-based choice that fits effortlessly into a variety of lifestyles.

From root to plate

A Caribbean staple, completely reimagined.

Rooted in generations of tradition, our cassava takes on a new form — sliced, seasoned, and fried to golden perfection.

Our story

Adding value to what Suriname already grows.

Foodlab turns raw materials from its sister and partner companies into finished consumer products — pasta from local flour, fries and chunks from local cassava.

  • 2016Foodlab established
  • 2021first local pasta
  • 2ranges, one plant
01 — Origin

Established in 2016

Foodlab N.V. was founded in 2016 as an innovative production unit within the BIG WILL Group, dedicated to strengthening the Surinamese food industry by adding premium value to local raw materials.

02 — The name

Ala dey — every day

The name Aladey comes from how often this food is eaten. Pasta is such a staple on the Surinamese table that it appears ala dey — every day. The cassava range carries the same name for the same reason.

03 — The raw material

Two local supply lines

Flour comes from De Molen, Suriname's only wheat mill and our sister company on the same street. Cassava comes from Power Crops N.V., grown on Surinamese soil. Neither crosses an ocean to reach us.

04 — The point

Fresh, affordable, local

By building on homegrown resources rather than imports, Foodlab keeps products fresh and affordable — and makes a substantial contribution to the national economy while doing it.

Vertical integration

Grown here, made here, eaten here.

01 Grown & milled locally The cassava comes from Power Crops and the wheat flour from our sister company De Molen.
02 Foodlab adds the value Pasta is extruded and dried; cassava is cut and pre-cooked.
03 Packed in Paramaribo Everything is sealed on Bowlingstraat, then frozen at −18°C or bagged dry.
04 On the shelf, in the kitchen Products reach retail and foodservice shelves days after leaving the plant, not months.

Why Aladey

Why choose Aladey?

Three reasons a Surinamese pack earns its place next to the imported ones.

Made in Suriname

Made from start to finish in Paramaribo. Every Aladey product supports local people, local businesses, and local production.

From our family to yours

Our cassava and flour come from companies within the Big Will Group, including Power Crops and De Molen. Being part of a connected local food network keeps our supply chain close, reliable, and proudly Surinamese.

Fresh to the shelf

Less distance means less time in transit. Our products travel from our production line to the store quickly, helping them reach the shelf fresh and ready for your everyday meals.

Two ways to put it on the plate

A plate piled with golden Aladey cassava fries
Cassava Fries · 6 min in the air fryer

Loaded cassava fries

They go straight from frozen to golden, then get piled with whatever you have: cheese, pepper sauce, pickled onion. The bite holds up under it all, which is the whole point.

Fried Aladey cassava chunks with herbs and a pot of ketchup
Cassava Chunks · 15 min in the oven

Golden chunks, salt and herbs

Big pieces with crisp edges and soft middles. Finish them with sea salt and chopped parsley, and put the bowl in the middle of the table.
